Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide. Habitat was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent, affordable place to live in dignity and safety. We believe that by putting our faith into action, we can help accomplish this, one family at a time.
Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity welcomes people of all races, religions and backgrounds to build with us in partnership. Our ministry brings diverse groups of people together to work for the betterment of the entire community. We are committed to doing God’s work in the world - bringing hope and transforming lives.
There are a number of ways your faith community can become involved, including prayer, financial assistance and volunteer services. Currently we are forming new Circles of Faith - groups of two or more churches that work together to sponsor a Habitat home.
