Shannon, a single mom, continues to work on her sweat equity hours. Her goal – a safe decent and affordable home in which to raise her three children, Zachary (14), Ashley (4), and Brittany (2). Shannon has lived in the same apartment for 14 years. However, the size of her family requires a bigger place. When she moves into her house, she’ll have all of her children with her as Zachary sleeps at his grandparent’s home due to limited space.
Shannon has also felt the economic crunch losing her job 1 ½ years ago. Because of her hearing challenge, she has had a difficulty finding safe and appropriate employment. Now, through her partnership with Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity, Shannon will achieve her dream of homeownership and call 1620 Allison her home.
